About the client
Croatian food stock exchange project, Burza hrane, was established in 2013 to help small food producers find customers, as well as individuals and small businesses to maintain a healthy lifestyle with fresh and certified products. It covers not only Croatian market, but also Slovenia, United Kingdom, Austria and Germany, helping small exporters find their niché. The site consisted of supply and demand ads divided into certain categories, with a rich search functionality, various recipes and additonal advertising space. Payment methods available were credit cards and PayWay.
The priority on the new website was to make the registration and payment process easier and lighter, plus to introduce notifications for greater engagement. We also wanted to make it responsive, so that it looks great on mobile, making on-the-go offers and purchases much easier. This was particularly important as the key target were small buyers such as restaurants, diners and individuals. The site was to be better optimized and quicker than the current version, especially since a great part of advertisers were rural suppliers with slower internet connection on average.
A new feature was the delivery option and payment through the dedicated delivery partner, which was integrated into the ordering process. To make things easier for small entrepreneurs and farmers, we included automatic invoice fiscalization. There is also an option to print payment slips if the user decides to pay for the order outside the site.
Now the users from different countries will be able to select country that they want to focus on, as well as search for specific areas or places as we integrated Google Maps API to place pins on the map. Those pins are expandable and clickable so if you should, for example, like some chestnut honey from the last European non-cultivated chestnut forests in Banovina, you can easily filter those out and order in a matter of minutes.
The administration was taken into account as well: a new, more intuitive and effective design was introduced, with key data and pending actions available at hand. Now editing categories, ads, individuals and companies is only a few clicks away. We also included multi-level administration to make work organization more flexible for the client.
The new site should increase traffic and revenues for both advertisers and the client, as it should increase search efficiency and ease-of-use. The wider range of possibilities such as invoicing and delivery is there to offer a complete ecommerce solution and increase share-of-wallet for all types of users. We are therefore sure that the new site will help strengthen and advance the market position of Burza hrane not only as a leading national, but also regional virtual market for food and agricultural products.
